Welcome. 

I’m a German-Italian communications expert and writer, based in The Netherlands. I work as a virtual assistant, writer and independent travel consultant. And after many years of prevalently office work, my preference has shifted to remote working. I am mobile, free and happy to travel anywhere. And my well equipped home office is a comfortable, quiet base for focused work. That having written, I certainly could also join your team at an office where needed and feasible, for a period of time.

What has prepared me for my current work?
Thus far I spent big part of my professional life working for busy international technical projects:

• Daily multilingual communications via email and phone, with a great variety of professionals/ instances
• coordination: Collection of input from project members, updating planning, monitoring deadlines
• producing & disseminating project status reports
• interpreting during company or project meetings, contract negotiations, internal company trainings
• producing meeting protocols (based on audio recordings after having attended the meetings)
• technical translations for the civil construction, automotive and maritime industry
• writing, researching information and producing multilingual web contents
• sourcing suppliers in the construction and maritime industry
• interacting with local agents and tech & transport service providers worldwide
• producing technical documentation and maintaining multilingual databases, content-wise
• producing and maintaining multilingual glossaries of terms
• producing quick onboarding materials for new project members
• managing and recruiting maritime crews for Dutch companies (crew from various countries and regions, EU and non-EU)
• organizing timely training and certification for the maritime crews
• producing risk assessments and pertaining safety protocols for the crews.

Before that I worked in congress & event management, Berlin city, at a time when that beloved madhouse of mine still had 3 functioning (!) airports. I had moved to Berlin when the wall was still standing. Later with the building frenzy unleashed – and me having just returned from a 3 years stay in the Italian South in-between – I spent two years handling the deliveries for a big German-Italian civil construction site in Berlin city, on site, sunrise to sunset. Providing technical translations and interpreting during meetings and site inspections, too. And facilitating the bureaucratic procedures for 150 Italian workers on that site. It was an excellent school for a technical interpreter & translator. You saw what you talked about, each moment. And you learned about working realities like they are not taught at any academy. Including lovely informal use of tech terms: A light well = wolf’s mouth, bocca di lupo. A chisel = pig foot, piede di porco. And so on.

My mundane formal education – are two:
A Bachelor of Science Environmental Studies, with focus on renewable energies and sustainable business innovations, done with the Open university UK.
And a translators diploma German/Italian, done with Akad University at Stuttgart, Germany. 

I bet you have guessed it by now: The surreal number in my passport says that I am way beyond thirty. A senior by experience, as they say so nicely. You are invited to take full advantage of that: Get the benefits of my practical experience, routine and industry / cultural / human knowledge by a fair exchange: You save the costs of a fixed senior employee. I avoid an excessive dose of the 9-2-5 x 50 office life and get to move more at the fresh air in-between work.
